Good afternoon and welcome everybody to ¡Viva Mexico! Today, we have a special performance of a traditional form of Mexican folk music called Mariachi.

Mariachi is a music genre that was born in the western part of Mexico, from where it spread to the rest of the nation, and then, to other countries of the world. Nowadays we can find mariachi bands in the United States and in many more countries, like Colombia, Finland and Japan. Mariachi music enlivens all kinds of parties and celebrations, and accompanies lovers’ voices in romantic serenades under the moonlight.
