Six years after the publication of Nations Matter, his re-examination of nationalism in a post-Cold War era, Professor Craig Calhoun, LSE Director, will address the question of why nations still matter in a globalising world. Rather than seeking to wish nationalism away, he will argue that it is important to transform it, distinguishing between the ideology of nationalism as a fixed and inherited identity and the development of public projects that continually remake the terms of national integration.
