·         Scholarships: UvA offers up to 80 scholarships of €500 for students participating in the UvA summer courses who are from LERU and U21 universities. Please check the website for more details www.uva.nl/summerschool

·         Broad range of courses: courses range from the sciences and social sciences to the humanities. Many courses are interdisciplinary.

·         Amsterdam living lab: several courses use the city as a living lab, such as Amsterdam Creative City: Media, Art and Culture, Urban Studies: Planning and Living in Cities and the multidisciplinary course Thinking City: Innovative Solutions for Urban Issues.

·         International locations: some courses are held abroad, such as Finds Processing in Archaeological Fieldwork, a unique course offered in Greece which combines theoretical and methodological classes with fieldwork. The course Cultural Innovation: Creative Sub-cultures in Russia takes place in Saint Petersburg.
